In early October 2016, representatives from the city of Phoenix presented a brief to the Industrial Design students at ASU. They explained that more of tax payers' money would be going to the transportation department, with the stipulation that the bus stops needed to provide more shade. They proposed that we form teams of two to three, come up with at least one design, and present the concept with a model mid November.

Key design aspects to focus on:

Size

Orientation

Shade

Observation:
Based on the paper models, triangles produced a greater amount of shade than the concepts that used 90 degree angles.

Final Concept
The bus stop presented in the video faces west, which is the most problematic orientation due to direct evening sun and extremely high summer temperatures.
This concept features a perforated panel that a person would be able to sit behind, and be protected from the evening sun.

Final Presentation
Using the 3D computer model, we were able to laser cut the cardboard pieces for quick assembly
