Ringfasting

Wedding Ceremony Concept

What is ringfasting?

Ringfasting is a wedding ceremony concept in which the 2 wedding rings are forged (made) at the same time, in the same material, and are physically connected. At the beginning of the ceremony, the people getting married both put on the single piece of jewelry. If the length of the bridge is right, the two can hold hands while connected. At the end of the ceremony, the two use a tool to split the object into two pieces.

Inspiration for ringfasting

Handfasting, the tradition where the two people getting married wrap a fabric or rope around each others' hands during the ceremony, was an inspiration for ringfasting.
The cloth or rope used in handfasting is (typically) temporarily affixed to the couple. Taking into consideration that many people wear their wedding ring everyday, ringfasting combines the physical binding element of handfasting with the permanent or significant element of a wedding ring.

Why ringfasting?

There are many wedding ceremonies practiced around the world, many which are part of deeply ingrained traditions. The reason ringfasting was imagined was to do or add something different.

Who imagined ringfasting?

As far as current research on the internet suggests, Nicholas Cyr imagined and coined the term ringfasting.
